Uh Oh, Girl Scout Cookies are Online

I’m surprised it has taken this long, but it turns out that the Girl Scouts have finally taken their cookie program into the 21st century. I couldn’t find it through research, but I recall reading a few years ago that the Girl Scouts Organization specifically didn’t want to have their cookie business go digital because of the interpersonal and business skills that selling face-to-face provided.

(Obviously, there is a digital construct known as a cookie, but that’s for discussion this Friday)

But they’ve had a change of heart, and their cookie operation is going digital! Now, sellers will be able to set up a website in which they can take orders, and there are apps for both iOS and Android that will let you locate nearby sellers and booths, as well as order, pay for, and provide shipping information for cookie orders, even indicate whether you want the order delivered to your door by an actual girl scout, which sounds a little odd. It’s no surprise that security is a concern, and the websites that are set up for the individual girl scout cookie sellers will be accessible via invite only, no identifying information will be disclosed publicly, and will be created under the supervision of an adult.
