Finally!
You know what this world needs? More giant robots. If the movie Pacific Rim taught me anything, it’s that nothing can protect the future of humanity – and gloriously destroy our cities – better than them.
And just like our own armed forces have friendly competitions with each other for good causes, to test themselves, have fun and earn some bragging rights, so should the colossal mechs that we will depend on in the future.
With that in mind, America’s MegaBot company has challenged Japan’s Suidobashi Heavy Industry’s Kuratas robot to a fight. And not a fight with missiles and lasers and whatnot, no, to a very Pacific Rim-esque straight-up round of fisticuffs.
You can see the original challenge from Megabot below, and Suidobashi’s response to the challenge below that. After examining both of the robots, I think we American’s might be in trouble. Also, if you’re interested, you can buy a Kuratas robot configured to your own specs. I didn’t find a price, however I suspect it’s not cheap (UPDATE: 1.35 Million).
Still, I’m thrilled giant robots are finally becoming a reality. They’re way better than taxis.
