Some Amazing Images

Since it’s Friday, I am going to post some pretty incredible and technology relevant images. Normally I post something oddball on Fridays, however all but one of these are pictures that I just had sent to me so I’ve decided to post them instead.

This first picture is an insanely realistic image of the human body from a CT Scan made by General Electric’s Revolution CT system, and you can find more images at this site.

Here is a 3D printed cast that uses ultrasound to help heal broken bones. Ultrasound was approved in 2013 as a therapeutic technique, so this cast adapts that process into a relatively easy-on-the-eyes cast that snaps into place. Not only that, I’ll bet it’s much easier to scratch an itch under this cast. More information can be found here.

There’s been a lot of talk about the Internet lately, well did you know that there are massive underwater cables that connect entire continents together? There absolutely are, and they are massive. While fiber-optic is a better method for sending data through underwater cables, here is an example of one using copper. I wish I had this connecting to my house, I’d be ready for the 8K revolution.

The email that sent this next picture claimed it was carved to look like a digital glitch in a more traditional piece of furniture, however it’s actually simply supposed to look distorted. Not digital.

Carved by Italian artist Ferrucio Laviani for what I believe is a furniture outlet in Italy, Fratelli Boffi, it’s part of a larger collection although I can’t find images of any other pieces. I could see these in my house, though.

This is, apparently, a ‘Crypto USB Stick.’ I couldn’t find a lot of info on it other than it was designed by ‘unknown Russian designers.’ That doesn’t fill me with confidence, although I like the concept. If you really need a unique, distinctive, different type of USB drive, then head over to either Instant Shift and see their list of the 50 most unique, or get this one that’s a dog humping your PC. All good.

From designer Gabriel Dupuis, a futuristic (or maybe not) take on what prosthetic hands might look like. He does great work in this domain, and really is worth taking a look at his profile, his designs are incredible.

And lastly, Space Mountain with the lights on. Now you know why you have to keep hands and arms inside at all times. If I’m sitting behind you, I don’t want to be smacked in the face by your recently-detached hand!
